Пару недель назад в YouTube для Android был расширен список опций выбора разрешения для проигрываемого видео. Google добавил возможность выбрать следующие разрешения: 144p, 240p, 360p, 720p, либо предоставить самому приложению решить, с каким качеством показывать вам видео (зависит от скорости мобильного интернета). Теперь приложение YouTube для Android получило еще пару опций выбора качества: 1080p и 480p.Чтобы получить доступ к выбору разрешение в YouTube, нужно установить или обновить приложение до самой свежей версии, затем запустить какое-нибудь видео, тапнуть на кнопку с тремя точками в правом верхнем углу выплывающего меню, после чего нажать на иконку настроек (стилизованная шестеренка) и выбрать нужное разрешение (при условии, что само видео позволяет выбрать, к примеру, 1080p).
Выбор новых опций производится на сервере, так что если у вас самая последняя версия YouTube для Android и пока нет новых настроек качества, то нужно дождаться их появления в приложении.
Более новая версия официального приложения YouTube уже не позволяет выбрать нужное разрешение и ограничено пределом в 720p. Для дисплеев с 2K разрешением это довольно серьезная проблема, ведь качество видео при этом сильно страдает. Из-за этого приходится запускать браузер Chrome на том же Galaxy Note 4, открывать страницу с видео на YouTube и только так выбрать разрешение 1440p. Но я хочу предложить более простой и универсальный способ, чтобы вы могли купить Galaxy Note 4 и на его большом экране наслаждаться качественным видео на YouTube.
Вы в любой момент можете вернуться на более раннюю версию приложения YouTube и там выбрать удобное разрешение видео 2K. Так что тут нет никаких серьезных махинаций с настройками. I saw some threads floating around about youtube 720p playback, and I really always wanted that myself.
But I was stupid enough not to even try.
I did try now and, yep, I got it working!
How I installed it:
** Remember: Your device must be capable of 1080p/720p video decoding and rooted, unless YouTube is not preinstalled as a system app!
• Removed /system/app/YouTube.apk
• If YouTube is still in the app drawer, go into YouTube app info and tap "Remove installed updates", then "Force stop".
• Install my APK!
If that doesn't work for you, try this alternative method:
• Remove YouTube.apk from /system/app (if there is any)
• Uninstall YouTube if it's still on the drawer
• Push my APK into /system/app (be careful with permissions / ownership) Downloads

Youtube is one of the most widely used video sites on the internet. Although there are many other platforms similar to this, yet people prefer getting the desired video stuff from here. After being very popular on the web, the company decided to launch the Android app so that users can easily watch videos wherever and whenever they want.
It’s been quite long since the YouTube Android app has been launched. However, now there is a couple of improvements currently in the works.
Some of the users have complaints about the low video quality that they have to bear while streaming videos online through YouTube. The mega video portal is now testing the Youtube 1080p option in order to deliver a reliable video quality no matter what Android device users employ to play videos.

Google is slowly rolling out 1080p streaming within the official YouTube app for all Android devices that support it, but it seems the change is happening pretty slowly. If you’re one of the many still waiting for it and you have a rooted device, you can now enable 1080p streaming yourself with this super simple trick.
All you need to do is perform a simple “build.prop” edit, which, in simple terms, means you need to edit one line inside a file. Again, you’ll need root access to do this, as well as a file browser that lets you access the root directory; I recommend Root Explorer .
Once you have those things, open up your file browser and go to the root directory, then tap “System.” Find the file named “build.prop” and then tap and hold it until a menu pops up. Select “Open in Text Editor.”
Inside the build.prop file, scroll down until you find a line that reads “ro.build.version.release=” and change the Android version number to “4.4.2” — it should look like this:
You can now tap the menu button in the top right corner and then select “Save and Exit.” Do not change anything else inside the build.prop file because you could break things. Be sure that the “version.release” line is the only one you edit.
It’s now recommended that your restart your device. Once this process is complete, open up the YouTube app, select a video, and then open up the playback options by tapping the gear icon. You should now see a 1080p option.
This trick has been tested numerous devices, including the Nexus 5, the HTC One M8, and the OnePlus One. It’s not guaranteed to work on all, however, so you’ll just have to try it on yours to see how you get on. Whatever the case may be, let us know in the comments.As many of you may know by now, Google rolled out the ability to play 1080p YouTube on 1080p Android devices. However, most Nexus 5s, and countless other 1080p phones don't have this functionality. It's seemingly random, but it isn't. Why, you ask?
Because ONLY Android versions 4.4.2 and L get this luxury. How do I know this? Well, I've tested this on almost half a dozen different Android phones.
Enabling 1080p (and 480p) playback in YouTube is frustratingly simple, and WORKS ON ALL 1080P ANDROID DEVICES (at least in the US, probably everywhere though) WITH YOUTUBE v5.7+!!
So let's get into it! FYI, ROOT is required for this tweak:
------ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR BUILD.PROP BEFORE EDITING IT-----
I'm not responsible if anything goes wrong on your phone. This is dead simple though, and if you create a backup there should be no problems
1: Open your build.prop file, and find this line:
"ro.build.version.release=x.x.x"
(With "x.x.x" being your current Android version number)
2: Then, replace that "x.x.x" with "4.4.2". The line should look exactly like this, (without quotes of course):
"ro.build.version.release=4.4.2"
3: Save, then reboot your phone.
4: Open up YouTube, play a 1080p video, and select 1080p from the resolution menu.
5: Profit 
Note that this will make Settings and all other apps think you're on 4.4.2. However, your phone will still be on whatever version you started with (this isn't just gonna magically upgrade your OS XD). In order to revert back to stock (you must temporarily revert back in order to install OTAs). restore your build.prop backup or simply change "x.x.x" back to what it was before.

UPDATE: According to a couple people on the forums, Google has fixed the issue on their side so that you can see 1080p regardless of your Android version. My only device now, the LG G3, is still on 4.4.2 so I can't test it, and I'll leave this guide up in case anyone still has issues
