Финансово-экономического смысла в задаче нет. Даже не использовано ни одной формулы. Пример можно рассматривать просто как вариант использования Excel в качестве универсального пользовательского интерфейса.
Цель игры – набрать как можно больше очков, через выстраивание одноцветных шариков в ряд. На каждом шаге возможно передвижение одного шарика на свободное поле (клик на шарике, затем клик на пустой ячейке). Ряды больше четырех одноцветных шаров подряд исчезают. Ряды образуются из вертикалей, горизонталей и диагоналей. Если на текущем шаге не был выстроен исчезающий ряд, то добавляется 3 новых шарика на случайные места игрового поля. Следующие 3 появляющихся цвета показаны в отдельной области.
Игра заканчивается, когда заполнены все ячейки игрового поля. За каждый исчезнувший шарик начисляется одно очко (в канонической версии игры используется более сложный механизм подсчета очков).
Начать новую игру можно в любое время, щелкнув по кнопке «Старт ». Можно продолжить незаконченную игру, открыв сохраненный предварительно файл Excel – все настройки и набор очков сохранится.
Файл требует подключения макросов. На листе установлена защита без пароля.
В скрытой области располагаются параметры настройки: виды и цвета шариков и минимальное количество шариков в линии для исчезновения. Вместо шариков с цифрами можно применить другие фигуры. Используются символы стандартного шрифта Wingdings – их нужно заменить в области примеров. Аналогично настраиваются варианты цвета фигур.
Можно также изменять области игрового поля, количество вариантов фигур и количество новых шариков на следующем шаге. Все это задается через размеры именованных диапазонов рабочего листа.
Весь программный код привязан к объекту рабочего листа.

The goal of the game is to remove as many balls as possible from the playing field. The balls disappear when you line up five or more of equally colored ones in a line (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal).
To move a ball, first click on source cell. Selected ball starts jumping. Then click on destination cell. Ball shall move there provided the way is free. Unless you remove a line three more balls of random colors shall be added to the playing field. You can see them if Show next checkbox is checked.
The scoring system is quite simple - each removed ball gives you exactly one point.
Save game button writes current position in a cookie. Last saved position is restored next time you open the same page or press Load game button. Best score is also kept in cookie.
Original idea comes from a classic MS-DOS game by russian company GAMOS. What you see is a clean-room implementation circa 1998. I took it offline soon after that because of the controversy around Unisys patent on the GIF file format (this particular implementation uses animated GIFs). This is the original version of the 90's russian game "Color Lines" made specially for iPhone. One of the best logic puzzle game that was installed on almost every PC in the beginning of 90's. Same heroes, same board, same balls and same addictive gameplay. It's 100% old school "Color Lines", but now you can play it wherever you are.
The purpose of the game is to score more points than the King has. Your score will increase when you build a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line consisting of five or more balls of the same color. You can make these lines by moving balls across vacant squares. Good luck!
