12/20/2013 The latest Flash Professional release is an update that enables you to natively create and publish HTML5 Canvas content using CreateJS .The update also contains fixes to some critical bugs.

10/19/2012 This update is specific to Enterprise customers of Adobe Flash Professional CS6, who are necessitated to perform a silent installation of Flash Professional CS6 Update 2. This update will not install Toolkit for CreateJS 1.1 automatically. Customers who have already installed Flash Professional CS6 Update 2 on or before October 17th 2012, need not install the update again.

9/25/2012 This update enables Flash Professional CS6 to support the following features exposed by AIR 3.4:

5/8/2012 This update restores missing Help support files that provide access to online help resources from within Flash Professional CS6. Without this update, Help functionality from within the product will not work.

6/25/2012 This upgrade addresses a vulnerability identified in the security bulletin http://www.adobe.com/go/apsb12-12. It could allow an attacker who successfully exploits this vulnerability to take control of the affected system. This has been fixed in CS 6 and now the fix is available for CS 5.5.1.

This upgrade resolves a buffer overflow vulnerability that could lead to code execution (CVE-2012-0778). It is recommended that you install this update.

09/07/2010 This Flash Professional update includes several fixes to improve the opening of some legacy files and correctly saving them in the new XFL format for Flash Professional CS5. It also addresses issues where some components are unable to be added to the stage, the preservation of all properties in TLF linked containers, better handling of certain characters when included in TLF text fields, and other minor issues.

02/11/2010 This download contains fixes for critical vulnerabilities identified in Security Bulletin APSB10-06 Flash Player update available to address security vulnerabilities. The update replaces the Debug and Release versions of Flash Player 10 browser plugins and standalone players that are included in the initial release of Flash CS4 Professional (player version 10.0.2.54). All users should apply this update. These new players are version 10.0.45.2.

12/18/2009 This hotfix for Flash CS4 Professional 10.0.2 addresses an issue related to testing projects on 4-Core and 8- Core Mac Pro Desktops. Specifically, it addresses an issue in which testing a project will result in a blank test movie window. This is a cumulative hotfix and includes Flash CS4 Professional Update 10.0.2.

11/17/2008 This update for Flash CS4 Professional supports the release of Adobe AIR® 1.5, the Adobe cross-operating system runtime that allows you to deliver personal, interactive experiences to the desktop. Among the many new features of Adobe AIR 1.5 is support for the capabilities of Flash Player 10, which includes 3D effects, custom filters, and advanced text support.

This update also provides fixes for problems related to compiling large files and applying motion to multiple objects. It also addresses issues related to the Adobe Product Improvement Program on Microsoft Windows Vista, resizing the document in a Flash slide presentation file, and working with full-screen FLV video. 6/20/2006 This update provides fixes for problems related to SMIL support in the initial release of the FLVPlayback component. It also addresses some issues related to streaming from the Flash Media Server and Flash Video Streaming Service (FVSS) partners as well as some minor issues related to using custom UI controls. Anyone working with the FLVPlayback components should apply this update. Installation instructions are included with the download in the Readme file.

4/14/2006 This update provides new publishing templates for Flash Professional 8 and Flash Basic 8 so that user experience is not impacted by Microsoft's update to Internet Explorer regarding handling of some web pages using interactive controls (learn more ). All users should apply this update.

If you find a problem with flashplugin-nonfree, then you are most welcome to report it in the Debian bug tracking system.

However, we cannot modify the Adobe Flash Player to fix problems in Debian. So if you find a problem with the Adobe Flash Player, then please report it to Adobe.

If you have found a workaround for a problem, then you are welcome to add an entry in the "troubleshooting" section below. (Please here no instructions for alternative ways to install the Adobe Flash Player.)

Proxy. The package flashplugin-nonfree has "its own internal solution" for caching the big .tar.gz downloaded from Adobe. Downloading fp10.*.pgp.asc is not cached by flashplugin-nonfree. My advice is to never use a caching proxy with flashplugin-nonfree, because a retrieval of fp10.*.pgp.asc from cache might result in a security update to be installed later than it should. If you must use a proxy because you have no direct way to the internet, then obviously you have no choice than to use the proxy. Then this should work:

  1. Using your browser view any webpage containing a flash video
  2. Right click on the video, select "Settings" option, uncheck "Enable hardware acceleration" option
  3. Close your browser, reopen it, right click on the video, select "Settings" option, check "Enable hardware acceleration" option

Critical Flash Update Fixes Zero-day Flaw - Krebs on Security

Adobe Systems Inc. today issued a security update to its Flash Player software. The company stressed that the update fixes a critical vulnerability that malicious actors have been using in targeted attacks.

Adobe classifies a security flaw as critical if it can be used to break into vulnerable machines without any help from users. The company said the vulnerability (CVE-2012-0779) fixed in the version released today has been exploited in targeted attacks designed to trick the user into clicking on a malicious file delivered in an email message, and that the exploit used in the attacks seen so far target Flash Player on Internet Explorer for Windows only.

Nevertheless, there are updates available for Flash Player versions designed for all operating systems that Adobe supports, including Mac. Linux and Android devices.

Adobe is urging users of Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.233 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh and Linux update to Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.235. Windows users of Flash Player 11.2.x who have selected the silent update option will receive the update automatically. Flash Player installed with Google Chrome is updated automatically, so no user action should be required for Chrome users. Users of Adobe Flash Player 11.1.115.7 and earlier versions on Android 4.x devices should update to Adobe Flash Player 11.1.115.8. Users of Adobe Flash Player 11.1.111.8 and earlier versions for Android 3.x and earlier versions should update to Flash Player 11.1.111.9 .

Flash has been updated again

On December 28th Adobe released a new version of their Flash Player with 19 bug fixes. It seems they left one out. On New Years Day, Flash for Windows was updated yet again.

I stumbled across this, interestingly enough, on a Chromebook.

The arrow appeared in the bottom right corner of the Chromebook indicating that a reboot was available to update the system. After rebooting, I went to the Adobe Flash Tester site to insure the system had picked up the Flash update from four days ago, version 20.0.0.267.

It had not. The Chromebook was running Flash version 20.0.0.228 which was released back on December 8th. The latest version for Chrome OS is 20.0.0.267 released on December 28th.

Thinking this might be a browser cache issue, I double checked the installed version of Flash by entering   chrome://flash  in the address bar. This too, reported version 20.0.0.228.

As with the Windows version of Chrome, a Chromebook will report that it is up to date ( chrome://help  in the address bar) despite a missing Flash update. As Yoda might say: act together Google needs.

For the record, Chrome OS was version 47.0.2526.106 and another Chromebook had the exact same results.

While checking out the Chromebooks, I noticed that the Adobe page reported a new version Internet Explorer on Windows (below). Interestingly, the update does not apply to Internet Explorer on Windows 8.x and 10.

The latest versions of Flash for Windows as of Jan. 2, 2016

The Adobe Security Bulletin from December 28th has not been updated with any mention of version 20.0.0.270.

But, an online search turned up an Adobe forum post from today (January 2nd) by Chris Campbell of Adobe that says

The next version of Flash Player is available for immediate download. In today's release we've updated Flash Player ActiveX for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 with a critical functional bug fix.

The forum post links to Release notes for Flash Player version 20 which were updated on New Years Day to say

In today's release, we've updated Flash Player ActiveX for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. This release addresses a problem with Flash Player improperly loading in applications that have it embedded. We are working with Microsoft to provide this update to Windows 8 and Windows 10 users as soon as possible. Customers using Google Chrome or Windows 8.x/10 Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge will receive the update through the Google and Microsoft update mechanisms.

No mention of Firefox, curiously.

The Flash Player download page offers confirmation of the update. Visiting it on Windows 7 with Internet Explorer, it currently offers to install version 20.0.0.270.

On Windows 8, things can only be described as weird. As you can see below, from Internet Explorer, Adobe reports that Flash version 20.0.0.267 is both the latest and, at the same time, out of date. Clicking the yellow Update Now button does not update anything.

Windows 8 users should thus avoid Internet Explorer. Of course, this has been true for years .

Since this is a "functional bug fix" Adobe may not issue a Security Bulletin. There is no security problem if one plus one equals three.

Just a problem.

Update: January 4, 2016. It seems that Windows 7, Vista and XP users are the lucky ones - they got the patch first. Flash 20.0.0.267 appears to be causing more than its share of grief on Windows 10. As for Defensive Computing with Flash. it deserves the treatment previously suggested for Java. Have it disabled or not-installed in the web browser you regularly use. Have it available in a secondary browser used only on the sites that require Flash. And, for further protection, configure that secondary browser for click-to-play so that Flash does not run automatically when a web page loads.

Update: January 6, 2016 9AM PT.   The Adobe forum posting was updated yesterday, the 5th, to say that Microsoft would update Flash on Windows 10 on the 5th. As of now, the Adobe Flash Tester page shows no available update for Windows 10. And, there has been no change on Windows 8, where Flash 20.0.0.267 is still both the latest version and out of date.

Update: January 7, 2016 8AM PT. Microsoft and Adobe disagree about Flash on Windows 10. The Adobe Tester page says that the latest version is still 20.0.0.267. However, on January 5th, Microsoft released Update for Adobe Flash Player in Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge that brings it up to 20.0.0.272. This latest Flash update from Microsoft applies to Windows 10 Version 1511.

Очередное обновление Adobe Flash Player закрывает три крупные уязвимости

Компания Adobe выпустила очередной бюллетень безопасности для своей мультимедийной платформы Flash Player. Недавно в ней были обнаружены три новые уязвимости, дающие злоумышленникам потенциальную возможность установить контроль над компьютерами, где она установлена. Поэтому новые обновления рекомендуется установить как можно раньше.

При работе с Google Chrome или Internet Explorer 10/11 на Windows 8 и 8.1 пользователи могут чувствовать себя в относительной безопасности, так как здесь браузеры ставят обновление Flash Player автоматически; относится это, правда, к интерфейсу Modern. Пользователям браузеров Safari, Firefox, Opera и более ранних версий IE придётся скачать и установить обновление самостоятельно. То же самое относится и к пользователям операционной системы Windows 7.

Желающие узнать, какая версия Flash Player установлена у них в системе, могут пройти на тестовую страницу Adobe; в случае, если версию ниже 14.0.0.145, рекомендуется выполнить обновление. Скачать актуальную версию можно здесь. обновление доступно для систем Windows, Macintosh и Linux.
