Since a VirusTotal scan on 2008-08-01 had not found any malware associated with the software, I installed the software.

During the installation, You will be prompted to close any open browser windows while installing the software. The default installation directory for the software is C:\Program Files\UnH Solutions\Flash Saving Plugin.

After installing the software, I ran SWF Cache Viewer. which you can run by clicking on Start. selecting UnH Solutions. and then selecting SWF Cache Viewer .

I changed the Source field from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox Cache .

I saw 8 flash movies listed named flash001 through flash008. I could click on the Date Filter field to filter the movies so that I would only see those for the date or date range I specified. I could click on each of those names to see the flash movie. I could save the SWF file elsewhere on the system by clicking on the Save As button.

По крайней мере в Mozilla Firefox, если приживется новый экспериментальный проект по свобободной технологии воспроизведения файлов SWF собственными средствами JavaScript и HTML5. Поскольку от самой flash-технологии большинство давно застолбивших себе в сети место веб-сайтов отказываться пока не торопятся, то у самого браузера Фаерфокс появилось потенциальное альтернативное решение, позволяющее обойтись без необходимого интегрируемого плагина.

Вся задумка производится в рамках проекта по обходному воспроизведению flash-элементов под кодовым названием Shumway. Реализуется это посредством трансляции сценарного языка ActionScript от всем известной корпорации, на котором создаются и воспроизводятся файлы SWF, в поддерживаемый любым браузером JavaScript с возможностью дальнейшего проигрывания с использованием уже возможностей HTML5. Технология еще не отработана и список возможных веб-ресурсов ждет своего пополнения. Но уже сейчас в тестовых "ночных" сборках Mozilla Firefox доступно воспроизведение роликов с Amazon, что не может не обнадеживать.

Подобного рода идеи по альтернативному воспроизведению flash не являются чем-то новым для Web, поскольку у того же Mozilla Firefox уже есть готовое решение в виде аддона HTML5 Video Anywhere. Однако суть эксперимента сводится к тому, чтобы вообще обойтись без каких-либо дополнительных надстроек. В случае, если проект выгорит, пользователей ждет неизбежное уменьшение количества лишних манипуляций, а значит и существенное повышение комфортности использования браузера. Скрестим пальцы, чтобы все сложилось удачно, и будем с нетерпением ждать скорого появления этой открытой альтернативы уже в стабильных релизах Фаерфокс. Пока же можно опробовать ее в регулярных сборках ветки Nightly.
