Simple extension that adds a context menu entry to files and folders that shows the processes and handles preventing delete and move operations
Sometimes, the operating system may deny a simple operation such as deleting a file. Though it may seem like it is no longer in use some running process could still hold it hostage.
WhoLockMe is a simple extension that becomes available in the context menu of files and folders and which can be used to reveal the processes currently locking the item you want to delete or move to a different location.
Simple installation processYou do not have to go through an installation per se, although there is a simple procedure to be followed, available in a plain text file in the downloaded archive.
With the fresh “WhoLockMe” entry in the context menu, you can check the processes locking a specific file and thus preventing its elimination from the current position. Apart from listing the lockers the application also provides the means to release the file.
As such, it offers the possibility to close a selected handle or to terminate the entire process with no greater effort than a mouse click.
A word of cautionEverything is quite simple, but keep in mind that closing a handle of a running program could bring with it unwanted events and a better approach would be to kill the process, after making sure that files depending on it have been saved.
In the list of items responsible of locking a file even after closing it, there are several details that may help you with better identification of the program it belongs to. The panel shows both the full path of the opened file and the location of the locking process.
ConclusionWhoLockMe has not been updated in a while and it may not work on some operating systems, especially newer ones. It also includes the possibility to close handles, which may be a bit on the reckless side. All in all, there are alternatives that are under active development and that can achieve the same results, under safer conditions.
На днях мне позвонил приятель и прискорбным голосом сообщил: «Я не могу удалить файл с жесткого диска своего компьютера». Он объяснил, что при попытке удаления появлялось окно с ошибкой, где было написано: «Файл удалить невозможно, так как он используется другим приложением». После долгих попыток удаления злосчастного файла, мы решили проблему, путем применения программы Unlocker. В данной статье я хотел бы рассказать, каким образом можно удалить неудаляемые файлы, как с применением специально созданного для этих целей программного обеспечения, так и при отсутствии такового.
Итак, мы пытаемся удалить некий ненавистный файл, а нам в ответ пишут, что файл используется другим приложением, а возможно диск защищен от записи. Однако мы точно знаем, что диск наш от записи никак не защищен, но уже начинаем сомневаться: а вдруг действительно файл используется другим приложением?
Как же это узнать? Для этих целей существует небольшая, но очень полезная утилита под названием WhoLockMe. Скачать WhoLockMe можно здесь. После скачивания полученный из сети дистрибутив разархивируем в отдельную папку.
Для этого щелкнем правой кнопкой мышки по иконке файла и выберем пункт «Извлечь в WhoLockMe».
Хочу заметить, что такой пункт в вашем меню возможен только при условии установленного архиватора WinRar. Если он по какой то причине у вас не установлен, то рекомендую скачать для последующей установки его отсюда .
В итоге будет создана одноименная папка, куда распакуются файлы программы. Запустим файл Install.bat, после чего программа будет установлена на компьютере.
Хочу предупредить любителей антивируса Касперский. При установке программы, антивирус будет ругаться и возмущаться, однако предложит внести программу в список доверенных, что мы и сделаем.
Приведу пример работы программы WhoLockMe. Находим файл, который не удается удалить. К сожалению, на момент написания этой статьи, таких файлов у меня не оказалось, поэтому я приведу пример на документе с этой же статьей.
Щелкаем правой кнопкой мышки по файлу и вызываем контекстное меню. Если кто не знает, что такое контекстное меню, отвечу: контекстное меню – это меню, которое вызывается нажатием правой кнопкой мышки.
В контекстном меню выбираем пункт «Who Lock Me?». Появится следующее окно:
Здесь сообщается, что файл занят программой Microsoft WORD. Теперь, чтобы удалить файл, нам достаточно закрыть Word и повторить попытку удаления.
Впрочем, я продемонстрировал достаточно простую ситуацию. Нередко имя программы, которая в данный момент работает с файлом, ничего вам не скажет. Возможна ситуация, когда на первый взгляд никаких программ не работает, однако WhoLockMe вам покажет конкретное имя. Что же делать в таком случае?
А в таком случае нам ничего не остается, как нажать одновременно «CTRL+ALT+Delete» и вызвать диспетчер задач Windows, в котором мы перейдем на вкладку «Процессы». Нам предстанет список работающих в данный момент процессов.
Рассматривая этот списочек невольно можно задуматься: сколько же всего работает в фоновом режиме у нас на компьютере! Однако оставим эмоции и приступим к поиску процесса, имя которого будет совпадать с тем, что выдала нам WhoLockMe.
По окончании поиска выделяем процесс однократным нажатием мышки и нажимаем на кнопку в правой нижней части окна.
После завершения работы процесса повторяем попытку удаления файла.
Нам очень помогла программа WhoLockMe в деле удаления файла, однако что же делать, если под рукой нет подобной программы? Как удалить файл с жесткого диска?
Если мы не знаем название процесса, то ничего не остается, как закрыть все работающие программы обычным способом, нажатием на кнопку «Выход». Далее запускаем Диспетчер задач и пытаемся вычислить тот процесс, что не позволяет нашему файлу благополучно удалиться с жесткого диска.
Предчувствую вопрос пользователя: «А как же найти в этом жутком списке процессов необходимый нам файл?».
Отвечаю: «Методом научного тыка. Однако с применением смекалки и логики». Прежде всего, следует уничтожить процессы, которые работают непосредственно от текущего пользователя компьютера. Если вы обратили внимание, то рядом с колонкой «Имя образа», располагается колонка «Имя пользователя». Там указывается либо имя текущего пользователя, либо то, что данный процесс является системным, о чем свидетельствует надпись «SYSTEM» напротив каждого процесса.
Давайте попробуем сначала завершить все процессы, что идут от имени пользователя. В этом случае вероятность того, что мы завершим нужный - больше, к тому же завершая системные процессы можно привести Windows к ошибке и завершению работы.
Работа в таком духе – сродни игре в рулетку. Никто не даст никаких гарантий, что операция «Удаление файла» пройдет успешно и без последствий для операционной системы. Тем не менее, такой метод мне нередко помогал.
А что же делать, если закрыты все возможно допустимые процессы, а файл все равно не удаляется?
В таком случае придется опять прибегнуть к помощи программного обеспечения от сторонних разработчиков. Спасительной соломинкой в океане не удаленных файлов для нас с вами окажется программа Unlocker.
Собственно говоря, единственная функция программы помогать в удалении непослушных файлов. Скачать программу можно здесь.
Для установки достаточно кликнуть два раза по скачанному файлу мышкой. Процесс установки, собственно состоит из постоянных нажиманий на кнопку «Далее», которые завершаться вот таким вот окном:
Здесь снимем галочку с последнего пункта. Он нам не нужен и нажмем «Установить».
Работа с программой отчасти будет напоминать WhoLockMe. Чтобы удалить ненужный файл, мы наводим на него курсор мышки, вызываем щелчком на правую кнопку контекстное меню и выбираем пункт «Unlocker».
Далее откроется окно программы, где мы просто выбираем желаемое действие над файлом.
В некоторых случаях может потребоваться перезагрузка системы для окончательного и бесповоротного удаления файла.

the older versions of Unlocker were not-- what is it?-- oh, i forget the name, claims to be some benevolent group for propagating the awareness of freewares. As for that adware/piggy-back-ware, likely easy to circumvent its installation. Look for Unlocker, pre 1.9.1 (i'm guessing at that BTW. but pretty sure) I will, nonetheless, try WhoLockMe, for what harm can it do? I've already spent more time, here, in adding commentary. Like others, I suspect, I'm here for Unlocker not functioning as expected, under Win7.x64. My experience: it installs, but "nothing happens" when invoked.

Some WhoLockMe Beta users have posted bug workarounds above, which may be helpful to the remaining WinXP/2003 users.
The author, Dr Hoiby, has been gone from this page since Feb. 16, 2009. WhoLockMe development has apparently ended with Beta, so please don't bother asking for new versions or bugfixes.

Unlocker 1.8.9 - 8/3/2010
The rumors of me not working on Unlocker have been greatly exaggerated. I have been very busy with pushing the envelope at work, MBA studies during evenings and week-ends, and life during the time left.
Still, I finally had a little time to address all the reported issues on Unlocker, and Unlocker now supports Windows 7. From a x64 stand point, it took me a couple of hours to get it fully working on my machine. I still have to sign the driver which might require a lot of paperwork, but hopefully it will not take long. For the impatient kind, I can provide alpha versions :)
Interestingly, now that I have a x64 machine, I had no alternative than to get Unlocker working. Despite the increased number of ersatz, none of them really did the job and I really had a motivation to get Unlocker working.
Finally, I addressed the topic of false positives with Unlocker on my my blog. There is no malware in Unlocker and there will never be. And for the record I am not the only one having similar issues .
- Fixed bug: Handles should not be missing anymore on Windows7.
- Fixed bug: Potential conflict with regular explorer use when opening multiple files or other shell extensions such as 7-zip.
- Fixed bug: UI should now appear properly when done from clean install.

- DLLs locked by processes can be unloaded. This make of Unlocker a very useful tool against viruses, trojan and worms that attach DLLs to processes to be invisible. Again I strongly advise to be extremely careful with this functionnality

- Changed back to MEW since WinUPack is wrongfully detected as a virus by poor anti-viruses such as McAfee. Unlocker will never contain any virus and it is a shame that McAfee is not able to unpack files packed with WinUPack. and properly unacceptable for a professional tool. Generally speaking if you have any doubt about a file you can submit a file to be scanned by several anti-viruses Virus Total and Jotti VirusScan. Those sites do not install anything on your machine, you just submit a file to them and they scan it by over 13 different anti-viruses. Thanks to all users who had problems for their support
Unlocker 1.5.2 - 07/05/2005

- Unlocker stopped working, what should I do? Uninstall Unlocker, reboot, delete all registry keys containing Unlocker, reboot, reinstall.
- Your site was down, is there an official mirror somewhere? http://cedrick.collomb.perso.sfr.fr/unlocker/ and I am working on a more robust long term solution.
- Does unlocker work on Windows Vista and Windows 7? Yes. If you want to disable UAC globally, go to "Control Panel" then "User Accounts" then again "User Accounts" then "Turn User Account Control" and set it to Off, then restart your computer.
- Does unlocker work on 64 bit versions of Windows? Yes, since version 1.9.0.
- Can Unlocker be run in command line? Yes! Unlocker -H for command line options.
- What is "Error Debug Privileges"? It means that your Local Security Settings do not allow a Debug Privilege for your profile. Read Microsoft's documentation and set "Debug Programs" rights.
- What is "Error Backup Privileges"? It means that your Local Security Settings do not allow a Backup Privilege for your profile. Read Microsoft's documentation and set "Back up files and directories" rights.
- How to set privileges on Windows XP home edition? Download the resource kit here and from the command line set the privileges you need: SeBackupPrivilege, SeDebugPrivilege and SeLoadDriverPrivilege. Here is the example for the debug privileges: ntrights +r SeDebugPrivilege -u YourAccountName
- How to have Unlocker Explorer extension run in silent mode? I strongly advise not to use this, you should always look which processes lock a file, because some of them might be valid. However if you wish to ignore those recommendations install this in your registry.
- How to delete index.dat? It is very simple: 1/ in explorer right click the index.dat file and chose Unlocker, 2/ Select "Delete" in left bottom corner, 3/ click "Unlock All" and you are done!
- I unlock all handles but I still can not manually delete the file, and when I try again to unlock the file unlocker find again some locks, what should I do? Select "Delete" before clicking "Unlock All".
- Why do my firewall says that Unlocker is trying to connect to the internet? Since Unlocker 1.6.5, during installation you have an option to automatically check for updates. Reinstall Unlocker without this option if you want to turn it off. For those curious Unlocker is only sending "GET /unlocker/version.txt HTTP/1.0\r\nHost: www.emptyloop.com\r\n" and nothing else.

Установка операционной системы
Установка операционной системы ничем не отличается от оригинала, за исключением выбора редакции. Время установки ОС варьирует от 25 до 40 минут в зависимости от разрядности и мощности компьютера. Содержимое образов можно перенести на загрузочную флешку или записать на DVD диск по соответствующей процедуре по созданию загрузочных носителей (см. примечания).
Примечания и важные рекомендации:
1. Образ не предназначен для установки из под установленной ОС.
2. Работоспособность сборки гарантируется только при установке на "чистую", т.е. при установке из под начальной загрузки компьютера на чистый, отформатированный раздел (диск).
3. Самая надёжная и безошибочная установка происходит с записанного DVD, при условии качественной записи носителя и полностью работоспособного дисковода.
4. В связи с тем, что установочный образ install.wim сжат в образ install.esd нужно применять те программы для создания флешки, которые поддерживают этот современный формат.
Наиболее простым способом является применение программ Windows7-USB-DVD-tool или Rufus на компьютерах со стандартным БИОС и файловой системой MBR. За применение других программ при создании загрузочной флешки отвечаете только вы.
На компьютерах с UEFI и дисковой структурой GPT сборки такого типа не поддерживаются. Рекомендую включить стандартный интерфейс BIOS или загружаться в режиме совместимости с BIOS, а GPT диск преобразовать в MBR.
5. В сборке применяется более современный и быстрый загрузчик-установщик от Win8.1, который поддерживает сжатие и полностью совместим с Win7.
6. В сборку интегрированы те обновления, которые возможно интегрировать в образ. Некоторые обновления возможно установить только на реально установленную систему, поэтому после установки системы придется установить несколько обновлений в ручную с центра обновлений Windows.
В сборку не интегрированы обновления телеметрии и прочие службы шпионы (KB2952664, KB3021917, KB3068708, KB3075249, KB3080149).
Дополнительный материал
В корне DVD образа системы присутствует папка с дополнительным материалом.
Папка "Программы" для установки вручную доп. программ и плагинов (установка рекомендуется).
Папка "Гаджеты рабочего стола" содержит доп. гаджеты для рабочего стола. Содержимое копируем в C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Shared Gadgets. Можно скопировать все или отдельные гаджеты на выбор (папка "с названием гаджета").
Папка "Темы рабочего стола" содержит темы и стили рабочего стола. Содержимое папки копируем в C:\Windows\Resources\Themes. Можно скопировать все или отдельные темы на выбор (файл название темы.theme + папка "название темы"). Перед переносом запустите программу Ultra UXTheme Patcher из папки программ.
Папка "Обои рабочего стола", копируем картинки из неё в C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows, или в свои картинки, или просто в любое место и применяем по необходимости.
Папка "Картинки аккаунта" содержит картинки для аватарки пользователя. Можно переместить с папку: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\User Account Pictures (скрытая папка, требуется включить отображение скрытых папок).
Папка "Хранители экрана", содержимое копируем в папку C:\Windows\System32.

- Ultra UXTheme Patcher v3.0, программа-патчер для добавления возможности применения сторонних тем оформления;

- Adobe Flash Player 19, плагин для браузеров.

Активация системы
1. Отключаем интернет и антивирус (если установлен)!
2. Открываем папку "Активаторы" на системном диске или переходим по ссылке на рабочем столе на эту папку.
3. Запускаем файл "Windows 7 Loader 2.2.2.exe" Жмем Install и ждем, пока не появится надпись об удачной активации и необходимости перезагрузки.
После удачной активации система будет проходить проверку подлинности и без ограничения скачивать все обновления.
Отличия от предыдущих версий сборки
- Обновлены программы в папке с доп. материалом.
- Для уменьшения размера образ максимально сжат, что позволило объединить на 1 dvd образы 2 редакций и дополнительный материал с загрузчиком.
Замечания к сборке и полезные рекомендации
1. Сборка устанавливается не активированной, поэтому после установки активируйте её.
2. Службы, процессы и компоненты Windows оставлены по умолчанию. Ничего не удалялось и не менялось.
3. Редакции объединены в один образ стандартными средствами разработчика от Microsoft WindowsADK KIT.
4. Для уменьшения размера образ максимально сжат.
5. В сборку интегрированы те обновления, которые возможно интегрировать в образ. Некоторые обновления возможно установить только на реально установленную систему, поэтому после установки системы придется установить несколько обновлений в ручную с центра обновлений Windows.
6. Встроенный антивирус "Защитник Windows" и UAC (контроль учётных записей) поначалу довольно сильно тормозят систему. По умолчанию они запущены. Отключать их или нет, решать вам.
7. Образ системы можно ещё уменьшить, если удалить из неё доп. материал, что позволит разместить её на 4-х ГБ флешку.
8. В образ системы не интегрированы обновления телеметрии и прочие службы шпионы (KB2952664, KB3021917, KB3068708, KB3075249, KB3080149). Устанавливать их или нет, решаете сами.
Ещё полезные рекомендации
Скачивание образов лучше производить с проверенных источников. ОБЯЗАТЕЛЬНО проверяйте контрольные суммы файла (их лучше получить с сайта автора продукта). Загрузите и установите программу "HashTab". Щелкните правой кнопкой мыши на файле образа и выберите пункт "Свойства". Перейдите на вкладку "Контрольные суммы" (File Hashes). Подсчитанные цифры должны до каждого знака совпадать с указанными на сайте. Как записать скачанный образ операционной системы на DVD? Воспользоваться можно разными программами для записи на диск. Это может быть "CDBurnerXP". Nero, Alhogol 120%, Ultra ISO. Обязательно ставим галочку "Проверить записанные данные". Настоятельно рекомендую после записи проверить записанный DVD диск специализированными утилитами типа "Nero DiscSpeed" или "DVDInfoPro" на ошибки и на скорость чтения. Если обнаружены ошибки или плохо читаемые сектора, рекомендую перезаписать образ на этот же (DVD-RW) или другой.
