SuperPuTTY aims to enhance the capabilities of the PuTTY SSH and Telnet client by allowing you to launch it in multiple tabs. It offers you the possibility to easily manage multiple sessions of PuTTY using a single, comprehensive working environment.

PuTTY is a free implementation of SSH and Telnet for Windows and Unix platforms, along with an xterm terminal emulator. It is written and maintained primarily by Simon Tatham.
The latest version is beta 0.66.

We're working towards a 0.65 release. This will be a bug-fix release: it will not contain the various new cryptographic features in the development snapshots, but it will contain large and small bug fixes over 0.64, including in particular a fix for the recent Vista-specific bug in which the configuration dialog becomes invisible. We'd appreciate testing of the pre-release builds, which are available from the Download page as usual.
2015-05-19 Malware pretending to be PuTTY
A Symantec blog post warns that a trojaned copy of PuTTY has been detected in the wild. Fortunately, it's easily recognisable by its version identification ("Unidentified build, Nov 29 2013 21:41:02"). If you've encountered this version, we suggest you treat any machine that's run the malicious version as potentially compromised, change any passwords that might have been stolen, and resecure the accounts they protect.
2015-04-19 PuTTY detected as malware
We've had several reports recently of anti-virus software reporting PuTTY as malware (under a wide variety of names, often generic). This affects the latest release (0.64) and also the development snapshots (particularly puttygen.exe).
We believe these are false positives. In those cases where we've been able to contact the vendor (McAfee, Symantec, ClamAV), they have removed the detection.
However, most vendors' false-positive response is to whitelist specific binaries. While this will resolve detections of the 0.64 release, expect detections to recur with the development snapshots, which are built daily.
We've had no success requesting AV software vendors to perform more in-depth analysis. If this is causing trouble for you, and you have a support contract with your AV vendor, please query the detection with them directly.

PuTTY is an open source application which has the capability to act as a client for the SSH, Telnet, rlogin, and raw TCP computing protocols, as well as a serial console client. Though it was originally written for Microsoft Windows, however, it is also used with Unix based platforms. SuperPutty is a GUI (Graphical User Interface) based application for PuTTY SSH Client which can not only perform regular PuTTY commands, but also allows it to be opened in multiple tabs.
After installation, the PuTTY.exe (and optionally the spcp.exe) file path(s) have to be specified.
All configurations can be performed from the PuTTY Configuration option via the Tools drop down menu. Sessions can also be imported and exported by selecting the relevant options from the File drop down menu.
It was tested on Windows 7 64-bit OS and works with all Windows platforms that support .NET Framework 2.0 and higher.
SuperPutty is quite possibly one of the best automation tools available if you spend any kind of time in the Terminal world with more than one networking device or server. Using the “Commands” feature, you can duplicate a single command on as many devices as possible in a single SuperPutty window. I will thoroughly explain how to accomplish this as well as show you my favorite features to enable (or disable) in this wonderful utility.

With this feature, you can do a large amount of work in a very short period of time by jamming as many sessions in one window as you can see the outputs. When I switch to a different layout it closes all of the open sessions then opens each Putty window ready to log in. Is that the way it is supposed to work, or is there a way to get it to change the layout of currently opened Putty sessions without closing them?
I like this tool but cannot get the colours to stick. when I change the default fonts I am happy until I exit and restart. Then the colours have regressed to the factory settings. Even when I start a new session, my new defaults are not respected.
Any Ideas what I am doing wrong?

HyperTerminal в Windows 7
Если вам понадобится программа HyperTerminal в Windows 7, то смею вас огорчить: ее там больше нет. По какой-то причине разработчики компании Microsoft перестали включать эту замечательную утилиту в состав своих ОС (Vista, Server 2008/R2, Windows 7, Windows 8). Вероятно, одной из причин такого решения являться тот факт, что COM порты на современных компьютерах практически отсутствуют, а если и есть, то покрыты толстым слоем пыли…
Напомним, что HyperTerminal – это приложение, позволяющее эмулировать работу терминала при взаимодействии с удалёнными устройствами по последовательной шине (RS-232), dial-up-у или протоколу TCP/IP (последнее скорее редкость, предпочтительнее использовать telnet ). Через консольный COM порт обычно настраивают различное сетевое оборудование, такое как маршрутизаторы, модемы, свитчи, АТС и т.д.
Так как же работать с COM-портами и устройствами на них в Windows 7. когда нужен функционал старого доброго гипертерминала?
Используем стандартный HyperTerminal из Windows XPЧтобы вернуть HyperTerminal в Windows 7 достаточно просто скопировать файлы данной программы из Windows XP. Нам понадобятся следующие файлы:
Скопируйте их в отдельный каталог в Windows 7, после чего можно запустить гипертерминал в Windows 7, открыв файл hypertrm.exe с явными правами админа (Run as administrator по правой кнопочке мыши).
Для тех счастливчиков, которые уже полностью мигрировали на Windows 7 и в чьем ведении не осталось Xp-шек, в архиве публикую все необходимые файлы.

Putty как аналог гипертерминалаЕсли вы хотите радикально избавиться от устаревшего гипертерминала, придется искать его аналоги для Windows 7.
Из наиболее удобных вариантов аналога мне видится утилита Putty (тем более она входит в арсенал практически любого администратора). Все, что необходимо сделать для работы Putty с локальным COM-портом, выполнить следующую настройку:
ГиперТерминал является уже пережитком прошлого, так как оборудование, настройка которого производиться посредством com портов практически не выпускается. Однако, иногда можно все же встретить современное оборудование, в котором некоторые функции, скажем сброс на заводские установки, можно выполнить только через компорт. Причем привычный comport будет выглядеть как RJ-45, и для связи с пк, нужны будут переходники. Впрочем, для ввода AT-команд необязательно конектиться по старинке. Маленький 3g модем будет отлично распознан в том же гипертерминале, будучи подключенным по usb. Короче нам нужно настроить оборудование, а у нас есть маленькая проблемка, где же HyperTerminal в этой семерке? Ну или подобных ей системам виста, восьмерка, двадцатка…
HyperTerminal для windows 7 разработчики забыли прописать. Где-то в висте забыли, а в восьмерке так и не вспомнили. Впрочем, нужно было просто скопировать этот архив с windows XP «HyperTerminal.rar »
Качаем, наслаждаемся привычным интерфейсом. Кому интересно, в данной статье напишу пару слов о работе с терминалом и современный аналог ему.
Распаковываем терминал, запускаем файл «hypertrm.exe» Первое окошко, которое увидим, это запрос, на то, чтобы сделать HyperTerminal telnet приложением по умолчанию. Чтобы это окошко более не вылезало, ставим галочку «Don’t ask me this question again» нажимаем «Yes». можно и «No» без разницы.
Теперь вводим название нашего нового подключения и жмем «OK»
В следующем окне вводим данные подключения, страну, код, и в строчке «Connect using» указываем «COM1». Для большинства случаев не обязательно заполнять точные данные. Жмем «ok»
Следующее окно указываем параметры порта, если не знаем что, жмем кнопку «Восстановить умолчания» и нажимаем «ОК»
Теперь, произойдет подключение. При настройке модема usb, для того, чтобы было видно вводимые AT команды нажимаем «File» в меню сверху слева «Properties»
Переходим на закладку «Settings» и жмем «ASII Setup»
Ставим галочку во второй строчку сверху «Echo typed characters locally» и нажимаем два раза «ОК»
HyperTerminal для windows 7 являеться не единственным telnet приложением. Существуют альтернативы. Скажем «Putty». «Teraterm» или «Absolute Telnet»
Также, для доступа к телефону или модему можно воспользоваться стандартной утилитой windows. Находиться она «пуск» - «панель управления» - просмотр: крупные или мелкие значки – «Телефон и модем»
