The big three – as far as browsers are concerned – have been making headlines as of late. Microsoft released IE9, which was downloaded nearly 2.5 million times in the first 24 hours of being released. While impressive, Firefox 4 came out clearing some 5 million downloads in its first 24-hour release period. Google Chrome has even been in the news with some of its new features, like talk to search, being integrated in its latest beta release.

Out of the three browsers I’ve mentioned, Chrome is still my favorite. It’s very minimalist and I’m a fan of the overall design and functionality. Besides all that though, one of the cool things about Chrome is also one of its most basic features – the ability to add themes. People have created a lot of great themes for the Chrome browser that you can install with a simple click. In this article, I’ll show you the Google Chrome themes that I thought were the coolest.

What’s so cool about themes? Well, rather than try explaining it to you, check out this cool YouTube video that Google has whipped up for your viewing pleasure.

This might just be my favorite theme on this list. I’m a fan of the grayish-blue tabs and the bright universe-like stars in the background. I think you’ll like it, try it out.

Glow is a really cool theme because, while it has a black background, it is actually quite colorful at the top. If you’d like to see your back, refresh, home, and preference buttons glowing you should be a fan of this one too.

If you’re looking for a dark theme, Tiesto is a pretty cool looking one. This one used to be my go-to default theme for a while, and I like the use of gray and white mixed in with the black background.

This theme is displayed as a gradient (go figure) of various shades of blue. If you’re into blue you should like this one, and I can honestly say it shouldn’t be too bright for your taste either.

I like the Glossy Blue theme because of its use of grays and blues. With this theme, the tab you’re focused in on will be a shade of blue, while all the background tabs will be grayed out.

The Pencil Sketch theme is attractive because of its simplicity. It’s very basic, which is something you might like considering you’re a Chrome user in the first place.

This theme by an artist is pretty cool because it has that hand-drawn feel to it. If you’re a fan of the blue and orange color combo, or you’re into patterns, this might be your theme.

Rampage is a recognizable contemporary fashion brand according to the theme page. Regardless of what that actually means. I just like the look and feel of this one.

Let’s face it, there aren’t many things that are cooler than The Beatles. If you’re a fan, or you just wish your browser was a little more groovy, you should check out this theme.

The Mario thing is also pretty cool, especially if you’re a big fan. It’s a little too bright for my taste, but perhaps that’s just the sort of thing you’re looking for.

People like using chrome because it’s fast and customizable. Talking about customization, chrome themes is one of the area which gave this browser a good pitch. There are lots of chrome themes available out there in Google Chrome themes Gallery and ChromeThemes.org. But still if you are not satisfied with the available options then you can create your own chrome theme as per your liking. You can add colors, tints, and set images in the new theme easily. Creating Chrome theme is very easy. Neither you require any tool for this nor there requirement of knowledge of languages. The only thing which you require and it is a website named Chrometheme.net. So lets discuss the process for chrome theme creation.

• First of all you need 4 images and that too in PNG format.

• Go to Chrometheme.net .

• You will find 5 tabs on theme creator page named Start, Images, Colors, Tints and Pack.

Chrome has emerged as the top browser with its minimalist looks and fast loading capabilities. The fascinating latest updates have improved the look of this modern browser with increased security. Take a look at browser share in wikipedia where we can see Google chrome has worked very hard to get to this top stage.

Once you have started using chrome you will not switch to any other browser and skinning the browser theme to  your personal needs is simply possible with these below introduced themes. Some of these may look like my personal preferences so let me know if you have any favorites.

The themes i have added here can be installed automatically but sometimes you may encounter themes done by third party websites and who allow download only from their websites. In case if you have to manually install a chrome theme it is as easy as it gets. Drag and drop the downloaded theme into chrome browser while in this page chrome://extensions/

Removing a chrome theme or reset back to default chrome theme is possible in chrome browser. Go to Menu > Settings > Appearance. The appearance section is found on the front page of the settings page so finding it is very easy.

Для этого достаточно всего лишь зайти на http://www.chrometheme.net/

Все предельно просто и играться с этим можно бесконечно! А если копнуть поглубже, это может затянуть (для людей увлекающихся, конечно). Итак, пункт первый — даем имя будущей теме.

Теперь самое главное – выбираем и заливаем картинки для шапки окна, панели инструментов, фона неактивного таба и фона окна. Картинки должны быть в формате .png.

Есть тут один нюанс по поводу размера картинки. В выпадающем меню «ntp_background_repeat» вы можете выбрать, будет ли ваша картинка повторяться при увеличении размера окна. Дублирование может быть разным: просто повтор, х-повтор, у-повтор и без повторения.

Выравнивание выбранного фона:

Если вы выбираете просто однотонные картинки или с простым узором, то в этом случае все равно. Если же вы выбрали именно картинку, то лучше сделать ее размером с ваш экран. Когда картинка меньше размера экрана и вы выбрали опцию без дублирования, при развороте браузера на полное окно, получится, что вокруг будет просто белый фон.

Итак, после того, как вы залили картинки, выбираем цвет.

Осталось выбрать дополнительные цветовые параметры элементов.

И сохранить и сразу же установить новую тему, или закачать на компьютер.

В моем случае на компьютере не было однотонного фона и я экспериментировала с фотографиями.

Если в созданной теме вас что-то не устраивает, то ее легко отменить:

При отмене все параметры остаются на месте и вы можете менять то, что вас не устроило.
