Back when I first got my laptop, I had a helluva time getting used to trying not to touch the touchpad while typing. Eventually after lowing the sensitivity of the touchpad and spending hours typing, I learned how to minimize my typing errors resulting from accidental touchpad touch-age. However, to this day I still struggle with the problem at times. If you are like me and share the same problem, TouchFreeze may be for you.
TouchFreeze is a very small, lightweight, and simple utility that automatically disables your touchpad whenever you type. When you stop typing, TouchFreeze re-enables the touchpad.

To use TouchFreeze, all you have to do in install it and run it. TouchFreeze does everything itself so there are no “settings” for your to change.
Now please be warned TouchFreeze will not work for every laptop – it doesn’t work for mine. However, I do suggest if you struggle with the touchpad-typing problem you give TouchFreeze a try and if it works for you, great; if it doesn’t just uninstall it. This open source utility serves one simple purpose: to disable your laptop's touchpad while you type.
Actually, Touchfreeze disables touchpad tapping. which is what causes the aforementioned problems. (It doesn't matter if your cursor moves while you're typing, as long as that movement isn't followed by a tap--the touchpad equivalent of clicking a mouse.)
I tested the utility on two laptops, one running Windows XP. the other, Vista. On both systems it worked as advertised: No amount of tapping while typing actually registered a tap.
If you've been tearing your hair out due to flaky laptop behavior, Touchfreeze may just solve the problem.

This program was designed to stop you from accidentally hitting your laptop/netbook’s trackpad with your thumbs while you are typing. However, this program didn’t really work for me – I still accidentally jumped the cursor from time-to-time.
So here’s my Autohotkey version, which has been working very well for me for the last couple of weeks since I created it. (Note that you can tweak the timer line if the 500ms default still isn’t quite long enough for you.) I’ve noticed no performance lag at all with method, since it’s a keyboard hook.
I think it’s always better to add little functions like these to my AHK master script, rather than installing YAU (yet another utility) for these small tweaks.

TouchFreeze docks in your system tray (KDE/Gnome) and disables button click events while typing.It's similar to ksynaptics if you know that but more simple.
touchfreeze is a program that disables your touchpad when you are typing. This prevents unintended click and scroll events when part of your hand touches the touchpad while you are typing.
After you stop typing, there is a certain delay before your touchpad is enabled again. You can set the value of the delay by moving the slider in touchfreeze’s window. touchfreeze’s window appears when clicking on its dock icon.
touchfreeze only disables click and scroll events coming from your touchpad. It does not disable cursor movement, neither any events coming from your mouse.

For those of you who use a laptop or netbook for day to day use, Here is a simple utility that can fix a small problem that everyone of you face. Often when we are typing, some part of our palm or finger touches the Touchpad which results in mouse movingA somewhere else resulting in errors while typing. Touchfreeze is a small utility which automatically disables touchpad while you are typing text.

The installer is a small
250 KB MSI installer which you need to install on your laptopA or netbook. It installs on your system and while running. it resides in your system tray. You can enable or disable the option of its startup when Windows boot just by right clicking on its tray Icon. It does not provide any other option to adjust.
As this utility is still being developed, so there are few issues with it too which may be fixed in next release. e.g it doesn’t work with laptops which have Synaptic Touchpad devices on Windows 7, many HP laptops.
I don’t own a desktop computer, so I do all my typing on my laptop. The keyboard is great, except for one major flaw: the position of the touchpad. It is very easy to accidentally brush the touch pad with the palm of my hand or my wrist as I type, causing my mouse cursor to move to a random part of the screen. This is annoying and can cause typos.
I can awkwardly hold my wrists in the air as I type, but this is uncomfortable. I can disable the touchpad, but then I have to remember to turn it back on every time I need to click. Enter TouchFreeze.
TouchFreeze is a simple utility that disables your touch pad whenever you are typing. As soon as you stop typing, the touchpad turns back on. It is complete automatic. Although TouchFreeze does need to run the background at all times, it is very lightweight and won’t slow your computer. I have been using TouchFreeze for about a year, and I love it. It is a simple, elegant solution for a simple problem.

O TouchFreeze é um programa minúsculo, mas a utilidade dele pode ser enorme. Ele desabilita o touchpad de notebooks enquanto o teclado é utilizado. Quem tem notebook e principalmente netbook provavelmente já passou pela situação de se perder em um texto por esbarrar no touchpad.
Não é necessário sequer configurar o TouchFreeze. Uma vez instalado, ele já está em funcionamento. Sempre que você usa o teclado, o touchpad é “congelado”. O programa fica em funcionamento na Barra de Sistema (a barra do relógio) e, clicando com o botão direito sobre o ícone, é possível marcar a opção para que ele inicie sempre juntamente com o Windows.
É possível desabilitar o touchpad através das propriedades do mouse no Painel de Controle, mas, obviamente, não vale a pena para digitar, pois é necessário voltar ao Painel de Controle e habilitar o touchpad novamente. O TouchFreeze facilita isso, a não ser em meio a uma atividade que precise de teclado e touchpad ao mesmo tempo (edição de imagens, por exemplo).
De acordo com o desenvolvedor, o TouchFreeze pode não funcionar em todos os modelos de notebook/netbook.
When typing on a laptop do you accidentally knock the touchpad, or rest your wrist upon it, leading to some pretty unpredictable results? When glancing back at the screen after typing in a long phrase it can be disheartening to find you might have inadvertently clicked on a different window.
A small utility called Touchfreeze, at version 1.0.2, may help, it describes itself as a “Utility for Windows that disables the touchpad automatically when you are typing text”. Once launched it sits in the Taskbar and monitors for keyboard activity, read to disable and re-enable to track pad.
The utility works with Windows NT/2000/XP and on the whole it works well. There are a few software issues such as Photoshop CS4 and some Windows 7 teething trouble but I have it running on a couple of laptops, for testing purposes, and it does the job.
Touchfreeze is one of those applications that makes you wonder why the functionality wasn’t built in to the operating system already.
